What EmailGuard is actually for

EmailGuard watches deliverability instead of producing it. It checks your SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, monitors blacklists and tracks whether your sending domains are drifting — the parts of the stack that fail silently and only show up as a reply rate quietly going to zero.

That is a genuinely useful job, and it is the one most senders handle badly because it is invisible when it works. The catch is that it is also a small job: the sending tools in this directory increasingly bundle the same checks, and a monitoring subscription only earns its line item if you are running enough domains that nobody is manually looking at them.

What you are paying for

Plans run from $49 to $129 a month depending on how many domains you want watched. Compared with a sending subscription that is not a trivial amount, so the question to ask is what a silent deliverability failure would cost you — if the answer is a client relationship, the monitoring is cheap insurance; if it is a campaign you can relaunch on Monday, it is probably not worth a subscription.

There is no free tier to test the reporting against, which makes the evaluation harder than it should be. Decide on the basis of how many domains you run, not on the feature list.

How it compares

Against ZeroBounce, you are choosing between monitoring over time and verifying addresses in bulk — different problems that people often conflate. Against the built-in checks in Instantly or Smartlead, you are buying independence and historical tracking rather than new data, so if you already run one of those senders, check what it reports before subscribing twice.

Verdict

EmailGuard solves a real problem for teams running many domains. For everyone else, the checks inside the tools you already pay for are probably sufficient.

What it does well

  • Focused on deliverability monitoring rather than sending, so it does not duplicate your sending tool
  • Checks the authentication stack most senders get wrong

Where it falls short

  • No free tier, so the reporting is hard to judge before you have committed to a plan
  • Category is crowded by tools that bundle the same checks into a sending subscription

Feature checklist

  • Blacklist monitoring
  • SPF/DKIM/DMARC checks
  • Deliverability monitoring

Who shouldn’t pick it

  • Teams that only run one or two sending domains

Before you buy

Check what your sending tool already reports before subscribing twice — several senders in this directory include overlapping SPF, DKIM and blacklist checks in their subscription.
